Pornhub Launches a Record Label

Pornhub Records

Pornhub Records

Earlier this year, Coolio hinted at Pornhub’s latest business venture, with news that his music would be released via the site. Now, it seems like that was just the beginning.

Let it be known that this week marks the launch of Pornhub Records. If you’re wondering if that means more videos like Xiu Xiu’s “Black Dick” video, then hooray!

“We’ve always seen a strong music presence from the beginning of Pornhub,” Matt Blake, their head of PR and marketing, tells Billboard. “Artists upload their own stuff, like uncensored tracks and R-rated versions of songs. Some people come in and upload exclusive videos, so it creates a buzz for them.”

The company also kicked off a contest to find the official Pornhub “anthem.” The winner will receive $5000 towards a music video that will debut of, with a minimum of half a million views guaranteed — not a hard thing to accomplish for a site that gets an average of 40 million views a day.

So far, everyone from “erotic folk” to country bands have submitted. However, the purveyors of rim jobs would like to kindly remind contestants:

“We’re looking for acts that aren’t necessarily porn-focused,” says VP Corey Price. “We’re an ad-based network looking for content that appeals to our demographic. Mature lyrics for an adult audience; no boy bands or teen-pop, for instance.”
