90s babies rejoice. Childish Gambino dropped by Australian radio station Triple J this week and threw it back to ’98. The “3005” rapper crooned Tamia’s “So Into You” — reminding us that he can indeed sing, too.
Gambino, or the less childish Donald, calls the song one of his favorites and remembers it as a “very cool sexy song”
I’ve dated a couple girls who would always say ‘I love this song,’ and I was like, ‘me too! It’s a very pretty song.
Quick recap: Tamia’s reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 1998. Half a decade later rapper Fabolous sampled her hook for his third single from his Street Dreams album. When asked which version he’d be covering, Gambino opted to keep it “OG” with Tamia’s 1998 track.
He also sang an achingly tender (and sober) version of “Sober” live at Triple J.
