US Border Patrol Seizes $500K Of Weed Disguised As Gigantic Carrots

Cartel smuggles weed in carrots

El Chapo would have never stood for such a silly plot…

‘Desperate Mexican Drug Cartels Do the Darndest Things’ could very well be its own weekly television segment at this point. It seems like every other day a new story makes the headlines about some random halfwit plot to smuggle copious amounts of the weed across the southern border. This time, some forward-thinking entrepreneurs decided to package a shitload of weed disguised as gigantic carrots. You’ll never believe it, but the plot failed miserably…

Border agents uncovered orange packages stuffed with weed and wrapped to resemble large carrots, according to a report by Newsweek. I mean, we do love our genetically modified foodstuffs in the States but last time I checked our carrots still weren’t the size of goddamn SuperSoaker. The contraband ‘carrots’ were hidden in bags of actual carrots in a commercial shipment coming from Mexico, according to the report.

To put that quantity in perspective, that amount of marijuana is relative to the weight of a Toyota Prius. Unlike a Prius, the estimated market value of the seized marijuana was $499,000.

In total, there were 2,817 carrot-shaped packages containing nearly 3,000 pounds of Mexico’s finest Tijuana Skunk. To put that quantity in perspective, that amount of marijuana is relative to the weight of a Toyota Prius. Unlike a Prius, the estimated market value of the seized marijuana was $499,000.

“Once again, drug smuggling organizations have demonstrated their creativity in attempting to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the U.S.-Mexico border,” said Efrain Solis Jr., port director of the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry. “Our officers are always ready to meet those challenges and remain vigilant toward any type of illicit activities.”

Once El Chapo breaks out of jail again somebody is getting fired and/or receiving a very severe letter about this whole charade…
